UCF Communication Conference

As you may know, the Nicholson School of Communication will be be hosting the second annual International Crisis & Risk Communication Conference (ICRC) March 5-7th at the Fairwinds Alumni Center at UCF. If you are free these dates, we encourage you to support NSC (and Dr. Kimiko Akita as she is a featured speaker) in its efforts to offer this unique opportunity to Central Florida as well as learn from the industry's leading professionals and scholars.

This year, the 2012 ICRC Conference: Cultivating Trust in Uncertain Times will bring together leaders, researchers, and experts from private industry, government and the academy to facilitate an international dialogue about how we can collectively understand, adapt and respond to the significant crisis communication challenges we face in the wake of growing skepticism, suspicion and erosion of public trust.

This conference is for public and private sector communication practitioners as well as researchers, scholars and policy-makers who are interested in exploring the challenges for risk and crisis communication in the context of diminished credibility and trustworthiness in the mind of the public for public and private sector entities, agencies, businesses and corporations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with leading experts. Participants can discuss lessons learned and emergent best practices from professionals who have dealt with significant crisis and risk communication episodes and participate in proposing practical recommendations for effective crisis communication in this changing environment.
